I have always been an active person for as long as I can remember but I was not really health conscious. I quickly gain a lot of fat through my bad food choices so I decided it was time for a change.
When I started working out, it was super exhausting and I hated how I could feel the extra giggle in my thighs and stomach. Skipping rope was extremely uncomfortable and having to monitor my eating habits was such a pain!
I started getting the hang of it and loved how it made me feel. These are some of things that made me love living a healthy life.
- Much more energy.
I used to feel tired all the time! This wasn’t determined by whether I was sedentary or spend the whole day running around. It was simply because I consumed a lot of junk foods and barely any healthy ones. Junk foods are highly processed foods that cause a rise in blood sugar followed by a plunge in insulin levels. This means the energy you get after consuming these foods is not sustainable and leaves you feeling tired.
- No more bloating.
My bloating was so regular that it was weird not being bloated. The intentional addition of high fiber foods and the reduction of greasy ones helped out a great deal.
- Clearer skin.
Have you heard of the saying, you are what you eat, this is the perfect example. All of these fatty foods and toxins in my body caused my skin to break out. Taking a lot of water has helped flush out all these toxins and made my face pimple free! Well, for the most part.
- Fat loss.
Switching to a healthy diet significantly reduces calorie intake and in turn, allow you to lose the excess fat you have been harboring. This takes time. You cannot undo 5 years of bad food choices in a week.
- Reduction of cellulite.
I used to have nasty thigh and butt cellulite but it significantly reduced as I lost the fat and worked out. The fat deposits created when you are storing excess fat start melting way revealing beautiful smooth skin!
- Feeling lighter.
This shall be one of the first experience you shall experience when starting a healthy lifestyle. Shedding of extra pounds shall be a relief to your body.
- The happy hormones.
Have you ever seen a person walking out of the gym room drenched in sweat but looking so happy and energetic? That’s the work of Endorphins. The body releases endorphins that trigger a positive feeling similar to that of morphine. It is certainly a feeling I look forward to.
- Sharpened focus.
Exercise improves your brain in the short term by raising your focus for two to three hours afterward. This has to do with blood flow. When exercising, blood flow increases everywhere in the body including the brain. More blood means more energy and oxygen which makes the brain function better.
- Confidence boost.
Clothes fit better, your skin is beautiful, your body feels alive and energetic and your brain is at its optimal. You might as well conquer the world too!
- The might gains.
There is no greater joy than seeing your body transforming into the best version it can. My biggest joy was seeing how my legs were getting gain muscle in all the right places.
Your body is way stronger than you can ever imagine. You just have to want to see what it’s capable of.
